Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
A senior Indian Police Service officer posted in Jaipur has been booked on charges of rape following a complaint by a 53-year-old woman, who alleged that he assaulted her on the pretext of marriage and subjected her to prolonged threats. The FIR was registered on April 29 after the complaint was received by post from another state, triggering an investigation into the allegations.
According to the complaint, the officer allegedly called the woman to his official residence, switched off her mobile phone, and forcibly assaulted her. She further claimed that she was physically assaulted and threatened with consequences if she approached the police, creating fear that prevented her from immediately filing a case.
The complainant has also alleged that the officer continued to intimidate her for nearly three months after the incident through video calls, attempting to deter her from initiating legal action. Police officials have confirmed that the matter is under investigation and that evidence, including digital communication records, will be examined as part of the probe.
The accused officer, Kishan Sahay Meena, who is currently serving as Inspector General (Human Rights), has denied all allegations and described the case as a conspiracy against him. He stated that the accusations were linked to his views promoting a “scientific outlook” and asserted that the truth would emerge through examination of chat records and other material evidence.
A promoted IPS officer of the 2004 batch of the Rajasthan cadre, Meena has held several key positions, including postings in the Crime Investigation Department, Police Headquarters, and the jail department. Authorities have stated that further action in the case will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
